Big Eclipse Energy

Today I am testing out my solar filter configuration and getting some settings dialed in on my camera for next weeks eclipse.

DO NOT POINT YOUR DLSR at the sun without proper filters. The exception is during totality.

This will start with Bailey's Beads, then Corona, then Earthshine, Diamond ring, then back to BB. you can remove all filters during this time, but replace them quickly or get your camera out of the sun before Bailey's Beads returns. I am definitely no expert with this as it will only be my third time photographing an eclipse, so I have a lot of stress going into this and I am practicing the movements of removing filters, refocusing, and quickly adjusting camera settings.

I am just glad that I am fortunate enough to be traveling to direct totality path in upstate NY. Hopefully everything goes well like it did in 2017! If not, life goes on and the experience will still be there.  I am excited to hang out with a few million of my closest friends under the surreal daytime darkness again.

On a side note,

I bet no one even remembers or knew about the one that happened in 2021 right here in Virginia Beach, because it was at sunrise and the news didn't get everyone amped up. I find it fascinating that it is never a big deal when it happens at other parts of the earth on an annual basis, but a soon as it happens over eastern US it is a life changing event. There is so much buzz about this event, but honestly it is a pretty routine thing. I am excited, nonetheless.
